About Us...

Newtown Engineering Co. are Motor, Agriculture, Plant and Engineer specialists located in the beautiful Northumberland town of Rothbury.

We are dealers for a large number of companies that specialise in Agricultral machinery, such as McCormick tractors, Westmac machinery and Lely / Welger balers, a full list of our suppliers can be found within the sales section of this website.

Not only does Newtown Engineering stock Agricultural and garden machinery, we also have a workshop, stores and a shop all on one premises, so we can supply all your needs!

Newtown Engineering Co, has been in business since 1972, when it was started by Ray Edmondson in a farm building at Newtown Farm, Rothbury. After a few months it was moved too the Co-op garage, Backcroft, Rothbury. The compqny is run today by Ray and his wife Dorcas.

In 1974 we obtained our first tractor dealership selling Universal Tractors, we also had a sub-Dealership selling David Brown Tractors. We moved into our present premises in 1977. We obtained the Renault Agriculture dealership in 1979, the McCormick dealership was added in 2007. We hold numerous agency's for all types of machinery.

In 2000, due to the cut backs in farming we were looking to add other services we could provide to our customers and started to supply, service and repair Garden Machinery which has proven very successful. We also obtained a franchise to supply waste oil heaters (Clean Burn Heaters) which we have installed in premises from Co.Durham to the Scottish Borders.

The Newtown Engineering Co. Workshop is a fully equipped workshop for the servicing and repair of tractors and all other farm and horticutural machinery.

We also supply wearing parts for all makes of ploughs, power harrows, cultivators, balers, mowers, tedders and forage harvesteres, etc, eg. hydraulic hoses, fittings, adaptors, valves, rams, seals, cables. Tyres and tubes, all types of fasteners, chain and links.

We supply a large variety of work and outdoor clothing including, tweed, wax and fleece jackets, trousers, shirts, socks, overalls, body warmers, jumpers, waterproofs, leggings, trousers, suits, boots, wellies including safety footwear.

We also supply Animal and pet foods, animal husbandry products, toy machinery and tractors, including ride-on tractors.
