An old coaching inn dating back to the 1700’s the Blue Bell Hotel is steeped in history and oozing rustic charm. With 28 en suite bedrooms, a restaurant overlooking our beautiful gardens and a cosy, friendly bar we’re the number one choice for your break away from the hustle bustle. About Us

Situated halfway between the towns of Berwick upon Tweed and Alnwick, this fine Northumberland Hotel provides an excellent base from which to explore the county. With borders north and west to Scotland and Cumbria, Northumberland shares with these areas the hills and open green spaces that dominate the north and north east of England. With a long coastline of outstanding natural beauty stretching down through Wansbeck and Blyth Valley to Tyne and Wear, the variety of natural landscape is enough to keep busy the most ardent lover of the great outdoors.

There are many activities on the coast and inland in Northumberland, with golf, including some excellent links course, and fishing on the Tweed being particularly popular. Walking and cycling is a good way to explore the area and there are a number of coastal activities including diving, sailing and windsurfing.

Accommodation

We have 28 well appointed bedrooms which are all en suite. All rooms offer modern conveniences including hairdryer, Iron & Ironing Board, colour TVs and a well-stocked tea and coffee tray while a full Northumbrian breakfast is included in our room rate.

As well as our classic and superior rooms, we also have disabled access, family and also single occupancy rooms. We can also accommodate pets (by prior arrangement). Wi-Fi is accessible in the main bar and lounge area.

The décor in all the rooms reflects the traditional and historic ambience of the hotel but with modern high quality reproduction fittings, often incorporating classic style four poster beds, and clean, stylish soft furnishings.
