The Bay Horse Inn, West Woodburn, is a delightful 18th century coaching inn built in mellowed sandstone, nestling by a stone bridge over the River Rede in the Cheviot Hills of Northumberland. This is the place to stop on your journey: to rest, drink, eat well and relax in a warm friendly, informal atmosphere.

Our bedrooms are all en-suite and the garden stretches down to the river and contains grassed area equipped with garden tables. We have good parking at the inn, including space for coaches by appointment.

Visitors are welcome to choose a tasty snack or to dine in style with a bottle of fine wine. For vegetarians and vegans we can offer an interesting alternative selection. Children have their own menu or may choose selected dishes from the main menus.

The Bay Horse Inn is an 18th Century Coaching Inn set by the river Rede in the delightful village of West Woodburn. The inn is also on the A68, the main scenic route to Scotland.Ideally located for either a stop on your journey or as a base to explore the area, we are just 12 miles from Kielder Water, 15 miles from Hadrian’s Wall, 17 miles from Hexham train station and 25 miles to Newcastle Airport.Take some time to explore the local area, then relax with a drink by the river or enjoy a chat with one of our many friendly locals.Free parking. Food available all day. Locally souurced organic produce used where possible.Please Note: We are a No-Smoking property. Pets are allowed by arrangement. Children welcome. Check-In time: 9:00 and Check-Out time: 10:00. Family Rooms are priced for two adults and children under 12. Children over are subject to a supplement.
